Automotive electronics harness connector potting: UV-curing structural adhesive case study

Background

An equipment integrator / manufacturer in Automotive electronics needed to potting on a harness connector using UV-curing structural adhesive.

Process challenge

Large potting volume where voiding and incomplete fill are hard to balance.

Solution

We recommended Pneumatic Valve + Glue Supply System, with using a high-flow pneumatic valve for staged potting together with vacuum de-airing.

Result

  • Material utilisation improved by about 8% with visibly less waste.
  • Shot volume 1.5 mL with deviation within ±3%.
  • Cycle time 0.3 s per dot with no stringing or dripping during continuous running.

Project facts

  • Industry: Automotive electronics
  • Workpiece: harness connector
  • Fluid: UV-curing structural adhesive
  • Process: potting
  • Recommended lines: Pneumatic Valve, Glue Supply System
