Optoelectronics and display light guide assembly potting: two-component epoxy case study

Background

An equipment integrator / manufacturer in Optoelectronics and display needed to potting on a light guide assembly using two-component epoxy.

Process challenge

Large potting volume where voiding and incomplete fill are hard to balance.

Solution

We recommended Dispensing Valve + Glue Distributing Machine, with using a high-flow pneumatic valve for staged potting together with vacuum de-airing.

Result

  • Material utilisation improved by about 8% with visibly less waste.
  • Shot volume 0.008 mL with deviation within ±2%.
  • Cycle time 0.5 s per dot with no stringing or dripping during continuous running.

Project facts

  • Industry: Optoelectronics and display
  • Workpiece: light guide assembly
  • Fluid: two-component epoxy
  • Process: potting
  • Recommended lines: Dispensing Valve, Glue Distributing Machine
